About a World
Corinna Schnitt Vor einer Welt, DE, 2007, 9', SD videoAbout a World shows a distant view on a pristine Alpine landscape. Eleven female bodies lie on the green pastures. A clothed man approaches and tries to communicate with them. The idyll is accompanied by subtitles, quotes from Habermas's The Theory of Communicative Action (Theorie des kommunikativen Handelns, 1981), offering the spectator to approach the video and its title on the cognitive level. Habermas's notions of communicative rationality, ideal speech situation, and lifeworld can be considered starting points in the theories of social action and communicative ethics.
