Jean-Marie Straub Le genou d’Artémide, FR, IT, 2007, 26', 35 mm

Artemide’s Knee is a conversation of Jean-Marie Straub with Cesare Pavese that begun with a film From the Clouds to the Resistance with Pavese's texts The Moon and the Bonfires (on the Italian anti-Fascist resistance fighters) and Dialogues with Leuco (philosophical dialogues with Greek gods and heroes) that also inspired the last film that Straub-Huillet made together These Encounters of Theirs, and also Artemide's Knee and Witches, Women among Themselves. A title of Pavese's dialogue on Artemide is The Beast. Film's voice is coming beyond the image as her materializing sensation.
