Don Quixote
Vladimir Kristl Don Kihot, HR, 1961, 11', 35 mmVladimir Kristl was a member of avant-garde art groups Exat ‘51 and New Tendencies (‘62) — movements that brought programmed neo-geometrical abstraction into Croatian art. Those artistic movements made a great influence on articulation of the “anti-film” idea. At the end of the 50s Kristl started working on animated films, but Don Quixote was the first one made fully according to his author inclinations: Klee-style animated satirical meditation on Don Quixote in contemporary martial and regimental world, a flattened, constructivist approach to the tale of Don Quixote, accompanied by atonal music, very uncommon in animated film of that time.
