Étude cinématographique sur une arabesque
Germaine Dulac FR, 1929, 7', 16 mmWhen developing the film we pay most attention to the story, and the image is in the background, thus prioritizing drama against film. If this ratio were the other way around, film would start to live in its real sense. The whole issue is actually contained in the word “visualization” because the future of film is a film that is impossible to retell. The seventh art, the screen art, it is a sensational and visual depth coming from the story and being intangible as music. This notion leads us to a revision of film themes.
