Les rites de passage
Florian Fischer, Johannes Krell DE, 2025, 14', DCPSmall holes appear inside a spruce tree, left by bark beetles to lay their brood. These tiny openings reveal a forest plantation that was cultivated for economic purposes. Due to climate change, the spruce population is now in decline, transforming into a breeding ground for future life forms. (1) Fossils offer a planetary time window that extends beyond the limits of human experience. 300-million-year-old petrified roots and trees, preserved by volcanic ash, stand as silent witnesses to the transformation of life. (2) A burial and ritual site, built around 7000 years ago to observe the sky, is aligned with the light axis of the winter and summer solstices. Performative sequences of a light figure engage in an exchange with the possible stories of the place. (3) The film forms an alliance between human and non-human, planetary and spiritual histories, existing in a constant state of becoming and passing.
