Allures
Jordan Belson US, 1961, 7', 16 mmBelson's masterpiece Allures is partly based on film material created for use in the Vortex concert series at the Morrison Planetarium in San Francisco between 1957 and 1959. Allures is a good case in point for arguing that Belson's work is part of the aesthetic realm of "Animation" even though the strict frame-by-frame technique is largely lacking. Most of the imagery Belson used for this film is based on the use of interference patterns as liberation of motion from still graphics. (Dr. William Moritz)
