The original concept of the film was inspired by the ongoing Vietnam War questioning the inability of the humankind to learn from its mistakes and irreversibility of conflicts. It is based on the visual and musical counterpoint of five authentic archival shots and an iconic song "Lili Marleen" performed by Marlene Dietrich.
