Mamaev Kurgan (poetics of everyday life #001)

Steffen Ramlow Mamaev Kurgan (poesie des alltäglichen #001), DE, 2006, 5', SD video

Moments of everyday life, observations, inconspicuous situations, sounds, music – as ellipses, parallels, something abstract, concrete, interwoven – miniatures in black and white and color. (…) The musical structure of the editing, as well as the dynamic and abstract moments of the film are complemented by sounds by SWOD. This gives the images a floating lightness. The film was shot 1994 in Wolgograd, Russia, on the Mamaev Hill, the place where the decisive battle between Germany and Russia took place. Nowadays, the hill features the world's biggest statue.
