Festival opening with Guy Sherwin's iconic performance

Day one of the 22nd edition of the 25 FPS Festival will be marked by Croatian experimental films in the Reflexes section at Kinoteka and the performance of the icon of British avant-garde Guy Sherwin at Histrionski dom.

The next five days of the festival, from 22 to 26 September, feature a host of cinematic and discursive events and performances at different locations: Kinoteka cinema, Klet studio gallery, Histrionski dom and Academy of Fine Arts.

The Festival opens with the pioneering filmmaker Guy Sherwin and his iconic performance Man With Mirror, performed fifty years after its first ever performance. His initial idea of creating a dialogue between the indoor cinema space and the outdoor nature space over time became a testimony of the passing of time – reflecting a film on himself with the aid of mirrors, Guy Sherwin is facing his imaginary character who remained in the mid-twenties, thus creating an intriguing combination of past and present.

The official opening is scheduled for 9 pm at Histrionski dom. There is a limited number of tickets available via ulaznice.hr and at the Histrionski dom's box office two hours before the performance.

        The first programme of the day is scheduled a bit earlier, at Kinoteka, 6 pm – the first Croatian competition section, Reflexes, includes four titles: Opera by Igor Zelić, I Could Have Talked, but I Decided to Type by Ivan Marušić Klif, The Same Sweat is Still Flowing Through the Same Pores by Neža Knez, VSL-246 by Lada Franulović. We will be joined for a Q&A by Ivan Marušić Klif, Neža Knez and Lada Franulović.

As part of the same programme, we will also screen, out of competition, Ana Buljan’s film produced by 25 FPS Association, En el miedo, si viene. The filmmaker will be present for a Q&A, together with the editor Miro Manojlović.
