Day four of the 21st 25 FPS Festival starts with Grand Jury member and filmologist Erika Balsom’s program, The Machine That Kills Bad People, continues with a program block from the Int'l Competition, and ends with an audiovisual performance (Expanded Cinema) by the Cellule d'intervention Metamkine collective, at Histrionski dom, Ilica 90.
Thursday at the 21st 25 FPS Festival brings a selection of early digital films by visual artist and curator Martijn van Boven; a film program by our Grand Jury member, filmmaker Michael Robinson, as well as two International Competition programs. Lastly, Ivan Šarar, also known as ŠÆRÅR, will treat us to a very special musical program at the Klet studio-gallery at Ilica 73.
For the second day of the Festival, we move to the Kinoteka Cinema, with two program blocks from International Competition, a program specially curated for the Festival by film curator and Grand Jury member Stoffel Debuysere, and the first Expanded Cinema program performed by artist Enrique del Castillo.
The first day of the 21st 25 FPS Festival is upon us! It is set to open with the exhibition Meaning Distances by visual artist Rosa Barba, at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Zagreb. A conversation with the artist will precede the exhibition, while a musical performance by Ivona Eterović, stage name tonota, will be held afterwards.
The 21st 25 FPS Festival will feature two screenings of expanded cinema, as a part of the Kino 11 program, Olivia, directed by our laureate Sofía Petersen. The three-day program at the Rijeka Art-kino will feature Reflexes, Croatian Competition, the best from the International Competition, and a tribute to representatives of the Iranian New Wave – Forugh Farrokhzad and by Marva Nabili.
This year, Croatian competition program Reflexes showcases five films by established as well as new authors, and in collaboration with the European Short Film Network, we offer a side program with a selection of films bringing us back to the sources of digital film and a panel titled Cinemagoers without cinemas.
