Karlo Drašković's Passage
Željko Sarić Prolaz Karla Draškovića, HR, 2007, 5', SD videoThis film dedicated to the photograph of Count Karlo Drašković "A Jump Over a Bench" from 1895. The story incorporates the spatio-temporal dimension of a walk down Zagreb's main street Ilica. The project is one photographic record made while walking, on a standard "leica" negative, between Jadran cinema and Gundulićava Street, with the use of rotational SRF 360 camera. The live-action story features a film projectionist and a young girl who keeps reappearing in the photograph, adding a touch of photographic statics (frozen moment), unlike the city environment. Carrying Drašković's photograph "A Jump Over a Bench", a direct conflict between the basic photography principle (jump as a frozen moment) and the film principle occurs. It gives the photograph a spatio-temporal dimension of recording continuous motion down the Zagreb Ilica (cinegraphy).
