Final day of 25 Festival 2026
Saturday at the Festival includes the book promotion of A Companion to Experimental Cinema at Studio-Gallery Klet, last of the competition programs, and finally the awards ceremony, followed by a screening of the winning films, at Kinoteka.
Promotion of the Croatian edition of A Companion to Experimental Cinema
Today's program opens at 11.30 am at Klet with the launch of a new publication as part of the Kvadrati sekunde series, Priručnik za eksperimentalni film (A Companion to Experimental Cinema). It includes newly commissioned essays by leading specialists in the field, and alongside interviews with a diverse range of practitioners, offers detailed examinations of individual films and filmmakers while also engaging with new approaches to understanding, defining, and shaping experimental film. The launch will feature Federico Windhausen, editor of the English edition, as well as Marina Kožul and Miro Frakić, co-editors of the Croatian edition.
Final competition programs
We return to Kinoteka at 4 pm with the second program in the Croatian Competition / Reflexes. What is on Croatian filmmakers' minds in their experiments with the form and contents will be showcased with four films: Iva Kraljević's fragile, intimate journey Leave This Room Buried, 'nonsense poem' film by Damir Čučić, Jabberwocky, communication-inflected 11:1-9 by Nela Gluhak and the verdant Abandoned Gardens by Tomislav Šoban. Joining us for a discussion after the screening: Iva Kraljević, Nela Gluhak and Tomislav Šoban.
International Competition is set to close with a sixth program at 6 pm, titled 'Land, Lens, Empire'. It will take us on an unpredictable journey through exciting landscapes, colonial worlds and eco-sensitive images. We will be joined by Stefan Németh, filmmaker of THYLA, and Miranda Pennell, showing her A Person of the Forest, as well as Elodie Arpa, filmmakers of Feet the Other Way. The program includes Daniel Mann's film, The Recce.
The closing ceremony
The 22nd edition of 25 FPS Festival ends with a closing ceremony at 8.30 pm at Kinoteka, with five jury awards to be given out: the three awards by Grand Jury members, one by Critics Jury for International Competition, and one for Croatian Competition. There will also be an Audience Award and the Green DCP Award. It will be followed by a screening of the award-winning films, with the after-party at Klet.
