16th 25 FPS Festival: Off We Go!

Tonight at 8pm we’re opening the 25 FPS Festival of Experimental Film and Video, whose 16th edition takes place on 24-27 September 2020 at the SC Cinema in Zagreb and on 29 and 30 September at Art Cinema in Rijeka. Admission to all events is free of charge, but the tickets need to be downloaded via the Entrio system.

Full 25 FPS Festival Line-Up: Kino 23, Expanded Cinema and In Focus Programmes Announced

In addition to Competition and Jury’s Choice programmes, 25 FPS brings several programmes focused on avant-garde classics and expanded cinema performances: Toshio Matsumoto’s Funeral Parade of Roses, Jung An Tagen and Rainer Kohlberger’s immersive audiovisual performance and a selection of Nathaniel Dorsky’s most recent work.

25 FPS Festival is organised in compliance with the guidelines issued by the Croatian Institute of Public Health to ensure the highest possible safety of the festival audience. Accordingly, we have implemented a number of measures ensuring the event is held in correspondence with the current epidemiological situation.

25 FPS Jury's Choice: Exploring Personal Archives, Histories and Cruelty of Moving Images

The jury of the 16th edition of the 25 FPS Festival of Experimental Film and Video is presenting intriguing film programmes revolving around the issues of private archives, female identities and the filmmaking process, including titles ranging from The Results of Feminism by the film pioneer Alice Guy-Blaché to one of the most acclaimed films of the 1990s, Salam Cinema by Mohsen Makhmalbaf.

16th 25 FPS Festival: From New Media Hybrids to Classical Avant-Garde

The competition section of the 16th edition of 25 FPS Festival takes place 24-27 September at SC Cinema in Zagreb and 29 and 30 September at Art Cinema in Rijeka. It consists of 29 films from all four corners of the world, from Argentina, Brazil and USA to Austria, France and UK, to Australia, South Korea and Hong Kong. The selection provides an overview of the recent production of avant-garde, experimental and innovative cinema, and the titles include several intriguing media hybrids, as well as titles critically examining the field of art. Some of the selected titles will be shown on the big screen for the first time, and some after a long time.
