This film is a peculiar tribute by the filmmaker to his father, conveyed through some of his belongings - most notably the object that gives the film its title. What initially appears to be an abstract painting turns out to be something far more mundane and practical: a simple tool that nonetheless bears the palpable trace of a life lived, the mark of the passage of time (like a cut tree trunk), and layers of memory - and paint.
