Six Colorful Inside Jobs

Shot from a high-angle perspective and with the footage sped up, Baldessari documents the painstaking work of a house painter who paints a room a different color of the rainbow each day of the week (here, we see only the first episode: Monday – red). Initially, the room is white, but the first brushstrokes of color in the corners create an illusion of depth – though the sense of three-dimensionality flattens out again once the man finishes the task and exits the room through an inconspicuous door.
